  2. Hey: It's my blog and if I want to help someone out you know what Bobby Brown said; "it's my prerogative." Besides, I don't need any additional board members, one is enough. Thanks for your feedback.

  3. Bobby Brown also sang, "Ain't nobody humpin' around!" Big effing deal anonymous 1:14, Read under the title of this blog. I'm sure there are a few followers out there that appreciate any career lead they get. Start your own blog, many in this industry I know tend to follow this one.

  5. Yeah, Zimmer Spine really is floundering. I am an ex-rep for this company, but I recently found a much better home at the top of the food chain...thank God!! I have seen, first hand, the chaos that has ensued since the acquisition of Abbott Spine. They did a terrible job integrating c-level management, and they also struggled tremendously in integrating the sales force. We did not gain one single penny of new business in my territory as a result of this acqisition, but of course, corporate still expected us to basically double our sales revenue.

  6. Anonymous 4:21 PM You "didn't gain a single penny of new business...as a result of the acquisition" and you blame that on corporate? You gained new products to sell, why wouldn't corporate expect you to grow your sales? Enjoy being at the top of the food chain with that attitude, you'll continue to "flounder."

  8. 8:16 AM, you obviously did not read my comment very thoroughly so I will put it in a way that you can understand.

Zimmer Spine gained very little pre-existing business--if any--after the acquisition of Abbott Spine for two main reasons: 1) management failed to focus on retaining key players in AS's sales force, and 2) management did very little to maintain relationships with surgeons close to the company (i.e. consultants). To expect your existing distributors/sales reps to basically double their sales numbers overnight simply because they have a few new "me-too" products in their bag is unreasonable and unfair. The distributor I worked for at the time went from having a quarterly quota of $500,000 to a quota close to $1,000,000 quite literally overnight.

  9. ZS has got some serious issues. They will probably lose a lot of talented sales reps because of the lack of corporate support and innovation. Companies like Globus, Nuvasive, K2, etc obviously realize what it takes to compete with the big boys. Zimmer Spine thinks they can rely on buying crappy companies like Abbott to boost their performance. They haven't released a single new product since they bought Abbott's "me-too" product line, that to be honest is not very good "me-too" stuff. My prediction is the big Z will ditch this division at some point. What do you think Spine Blogger?

  10. Zimmer's motto: Better to have had a spine line and lost, than never to have had a spine line at all. Shakespeare would be proud.

  11. Anonymous 4:21 is right, at least in my market. Zimmer burned the bridge with a solid AS distributor and has FOUNDERED since.
