A Call To Arms

Spineophiles:

TSB has been sitting back and reading some of the humorous, if not insane comments from our readers.  We love y'all, especially the ones that provide us a rationale for POD's or for how brilliant someone is financially. It is a wonder why the pharmaceutical industry invented Ritalin, you know the drug that is supposed to control hyperactivity, controlling actions, keeping one's eye on the ball. And some of you are actually correct in your observations when you comment that our readers have trouble sticking to the subject at hand, but then again, it's free, and considering the high levels of testosterone in this industry, what would one expect.  So what TSB and his 2 Live Crew have decided is that this week we will open our blog to anyone that is interested in writing a post.  That's right, you heard it here first, we are going to provide some lucky readers the opportunity to table a topic for discussion this week.  Here are the guidelines;

TSB has the right to edit any post that includes salacious innuendoes without being able to substantiate your facts.

TSB will not allow vulgarities directed at someone's spouse or children, or personal lifestyle

This is your opportunity.  You want to talk about Stem Cells give us the best you have, and save us the dog and hair stories.  You want to talk about an up and coming company, tell us why.  What is it about their technology that makes them a viable player in our industry.  Do you have metal, or PEEK that you truly believe is better than someone else's products, give our readers your best, and at the end, just remember what Sargent Joe Friday use to say, "Just the facts m'am."  So forward us post to

spineblogger@me.com   This my friends could be the most entertaining thing to hit this industry since Memphis.

C'mon babe you will be right
Open up my door, I'll be the key of your life
So aih aih aih getting' spinnin' around
I wanna let you feel my sound

  2. TSB, I've enjoyed reading your blog over the last 12-18 mos, but have honestly lost interest as of late as the blogs themselves have lost "juice". As for those that typically respond, well, let's just say lack a lot of things.

The fact that you've opened the blog to those who it read tells me (2) things:

    1. Spine in dull, boring, and quite honestly there's nothing to talk about.
    2. The days of this blog being a productive & constructive forum to share information have passed,,

Much like Harrington rods, BAK cages, & TDRs, this blog may have already seen its best days.

Best of luck selecting a blog worthy of posting, can't wait to see what makes the grade.

  3. TSB - I like you Idea. Why don't some of the POD surgeons who read this blog give us more than a sentence and state your position and the reasons why you believe it's a legit business practice.

    1. 11:02.... Why would anyone want to respond to your silly-a-- challenge when you know all you will do is try to justify why your surgeon left you high-n-dry by sitting behind the curtain trying to defend business you will never see again. Go get another career while you still have time.

  4. The value of this blog is indeed suspect. I am a surgeon (and was told I had to be a rep) in a post 2 days ago...which makes those that replied to my post REALLY &(*^%$ up. I wouldn't want anything to do with a POD, nor would I trust the hospital to get my implants for a case, nor would I let a CRNA put any of my patients or family to sleep, and Globus' shit ain't half bad, Infuse has been beneficial, Eugene Carragee is a strange dude, hospitals that limit surgeon choice on vendors/implants are immoral, a good rep is invaluable, a bad rep is not only worthless, but dangerous, and life goes on.

  6. In true Conan form; In the year two thousand....
    - Medtronic gets robbed of their death blow to Nuva when Zimmer swoops in and buys them at $7/share.
    - Zimmer Spine sinks to new depths never before seen. People continue to ask when Zimmer will give up their pet spine project.
    - Commercials start airing all over the US: "Did you or a loved one have Infuse implanted, if so call 1800Jackpot..."
    - Depuy goes with the synthes managers, which ever reps have surgeon relationships, and a couple of the biggest distributors (SDI) until their contracts are up, then its 100% direct (underpaid, but great bennies) reps.
    - Stryker buys Lanx.
    - Globus buys K2M to capture their deformity market share in a single move rather than trying to entice one rep at a time like they did with Nuva reps. "Anonymous" continues to ask: "when is globus going to go public?".
    - Zimmer buys Globus, (lets GMI run the Zimmer Spine division) and finally gets into the game.
    - Musculoskeletal man's head explodes and TSB goes offline
    ....In the year two thousand.

  9. The Next Two to Three Years Will be like this.
Yes mergers will continue to happen. Congratulations on Synthes reps who tomorrow will get a 30% pay cut. Congratulations. Oh yeah great benefits at J&J;) New DePuy reps will be the closest thing this industry has seen to being a Pharma rep. Small ankle bitter companies will be a thing of the past after 2013 when the device tax is put in place. New industry deal with FDA will allow products to get to through the approval process much faster than they do now. Still, getting premium priced new technologies paid for will increasingly more difficult. More surgeons will go non par and stop taking medicare. This will drive implant cost down even more. There will be a run on Cervical arthroplasty devices coming to market. AOC's will be a miserable failure due to administrative costs and hospitals who can't get out of there own way. SI fusions will be more scrutinized and many insurance companies will continue to deny coverage as they already are. Those who say there is nothing to talk about on this blog are idiots. And no I am not a surgeon.

  12. Was today the end of the line for all Depuy Spine distributiors nationwide? Seems like a lot of poopy hit the fan today in DePuy Spine world. Just a note to all those dellusional, former DePuy 1099 distributor reps who think all of their good side lines like LDR will continue to live on LLC perpetuity, while they take the J&j benfits and base sallaries of W2s - you're fucked! I will personally rat you out directly to DePuy and so will every other competitive rep in your territory.
