Paradigm Spine - The End?

Many years ago, The Doors sang a eulogy of sorts,

This is the end, Beautiful friend, this is the end, my only friend the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end, of everything that stands, the end
I'll never look into your eyes, again, can you picture what will be so limitless and free
All the children are insane, waiting for the summer rain.

Based on what has been heard on the Street, could the end be near for Paradigm Spine? The Street is telling TSB that Paradigm may be facing liquidity issues. Cash flow could be a problem, considering that da boyz have supposedly been attempting to raise $14 million since December of 2010.  Paradigm has been in existence since 2004, and still no one has taken a shot at the title, or expressed interest in buying this one trick pony.  With a "who's who" cast of characters, it's a wonder why no one is biting the bait?  Could it be that there are too many fish in the sea?  Could it be that something smells fishy?  Could we be talking fire sale?  Based on Paradigm's product portfolio, TSB does not see this company picking up enough of traction to sustain itself without an infusion of cash. But then, if TSB lived high on the hog, sooner than later the cow runs out of milk.

The fact remains that dynamic stabilization has died a slow and untimely death, TSB cannot see the cervical and lumbar products surviving in the current environment, they were DOA a long, long time ago. As for the Coflex, nice but how big of a market? What about reimbursement issues? So in closing, this was a valiant effort by V3, but since the markets are bigger than the both of us, timing is everything, and if our sources are right, time is not on Paradigm's side.  TSB wants to know what our readers have heard?  Could Paradigm be riders on the storm?

Say it ain't so Joe?  Say it ain't so!

  1. Without a fusion code, like the few successful ISD's even though we all know there is no fusion, this devices is going to be dead as the company is going to be. At least the investors money was used for many extremely successful cigar parties. The V-Bros may want to look into wedding/event planning because they do through great parties with other peoples money.

    1. No funds. Word is company is out of $$$, isn't paying commissions and can't raise anymore cash. (legitimately at least). DIstributors beware !!

They are in the process of cutting back to the ole' VB Bones yet again. What a real shame..... 'Real shocker' though.

  6. Not a surprise. It's only a question of when a firesale of the assets will take place. Paradigm's time has come and gone.

  9. It was widely reported that Joe had a skiing mishap. He was riding a Russian made snow blower got flipped into a compromising position and fractured a vertebra in his neck. At that point DK had figured out he over stayed his welcome and the rest is history.

  13. Anyone been in Amsterdam for SpineWeek?
    Hot products? New clinical evidence?
To be on topic: News about the Paradigm IDE results / PMA?

  14. Globus and Pioneer. Pioneer can't go IPO because they're too diverse. The parts (biologics?) are more attractive than the sum. Get your heads around Globus. DP is trying to do the same thing as others, again, copying instead of truly innovating yet still generating $$. Just like St. Francis Medical (X-Stop-remember now?); announce you're going public in an effort to draw attention and hope that one of the big boys will buy you before you actually go public. Bets on who gets bought first?

    1. TSB....
Another boring article and obvious even fewer comments like the last 4-5 blogs. Let's uncover some "in the trenches" information like what products are Tier2 companies not have in their bags that the Bigs have and of those products even if Tier2's do not have is it that big of a deal? What are deciding factors for a surgeon to convert his company loyalty to a Tier2 from a Big? What Tier2 companies are out there and will be around in 24 months? Come on TSB, let's put some fun blogs out there vs. all this boring stuff!

    2. Dude it's Spine World not Rachel's in West Palm Beach. Come on if we need to discuss what are the deciding factors for a surgeon to convert loyalty to a Tier 2 company then we're all in trouble. Look for an upcoming blog on the Tier 2's. Life is short, play hard

  17. 9:07: You have inside information or is this just your personal opinion?
Saw the IDE results at SpineWeek, looked pretty good for approval to me. Of course there is more than that to get PMA.

    1. The results they presented at Spineweek will barely be recognizable in the PMA filing. Just like with for example the Spinetech cage and Infuse.
