Rust Never Sleeps - Aurora Borealis

Aurora, the ancient goddess of a new dawn, a radiant emission from the atmosphere, a web browser, the name of many a restaurants, a city in central Codorado, the city of brotherly love, a new spine company?  That's right fellow bloggers, recently the spine world gave birth to another atmospheric emission of luminous bands caused by charged solar particles.  It's truly amazing what happens when you create a hole through the ozone layer.  By the looks of things Carlsbad may be the next Silicon Valley, n'est ce pas?  After reading about Aurora and listening to some of our readers comments in private emails to TSB one can only marvel at this compilation of spine retreads, you know the slang definition of a retread is someone or something representing older times, especially when they are deemed passé.  Yet, TSB must admit that if you are going to start another venture, why not Carlsbad? The beach is nearby, the golf courses are lush and neatly manicured and if all else fails at least you got a taste of paradise.  At this juncture in spine, TSB believes that everyone should be given the opportunity to start a company based on a mission statement that includes being pro-active, would we all love to meet the people that invested in this Trojan Horse, more in the computing sense the the mythological.

Sixteen to Seventeen products, new biologics on the horizon, who knows the sky is the limit. Yet, upon carefully reviewing these products, in lumbar alone there were 12 products that had no pictures, and had not yet been approved by the FDA.  WTF?  In addition the word "volt" was used so many times that TSB started to believe we were going to get a menu link to one of Bryan or Michael Voltaggio's restaurants. So TSB has to ask our readers, is this what they are teaching in business graduate schools across America? The internet is a wonderful conduit, but it makes you wonder how shallow have we truly become?  Forget about the readers, how about the investors? SUCKERS!  "Does this company have any actual products available?" How does one recruit distributors without product?  We didn't see any products named "Stealth" on their website. Louis Armstrong use to sing about seeing skies of blue and clouds of white, bright blessed days and dark sacred nights, and you think to yourself, what a wonderful world.  And then, you wake up and all of a sudden you're living in Neil Young's head singing,

"My, my, hey, hey, the crazy world of spine is here to stay,
it's better to burn out than to fade away, my, my, hey, hey
Rust Never Sleeps!

    1. Stryker strikes again only it's worse this time! Their latest batch of victims, the Cervicore victims, were injured even more grievously than the hip implant victims and there was even more criminality involved. CerviCore is an artificial disk implant meant for implantation into the cervical spine. Not only is it a metal shedding Frankenstein design like the Stryker hip implants, the Cervicore disk never received FDA approval for use in patients. It gets worse, the Cervicore disk never even received FDA approval to be used in clinical trials or IDE (Investigational Device Exemption). The Cervicore disk is such a piece of shit that it could not even get and IDE from the FDA but that didn't stop Stryker's doctors from implanting them in the spine of patients.

Currently the is a class action lawsuit being filed against Stryker Medical.

On Friday April 11, 2014 the law firm of Zoll, Kranz & Borgess, LLC filed a lawsuit behalf of a group of fourteen plaintiffs against Howmedica Osteonics Corp. (which does business as Stryker Spine) alleging Howmedica’s trial device called called CerviCore injured them.

MIS? Already been done but there is still a lot more money in open surgery where the real money is made on the comeback. Regenerative medicine? Read this. http://www.regenexx.com/about-regenexx/doctor-christopher-j-centeno-md/

There are many levels of delusion but how much coke does it take for a person to believe lies when they are the ones telling them?

Check out Aurora's website. They are looking for investors and they don't seem to even have a product.

How does this division survive? nobody will buy it? not even Lanx or Alphatec? anyone not look at a Zimmer Spine business card or resume (they are everywhere) and not think "Loser"? Equally unimpressive is their lineup of AVPs or "how much business can you bring?" parrotts. I watched an interview with hockey great Phil Esposito. He was asked why there was so much fighting in hockey. Phil Esposito is a very intelligent man so the interviewer was expecting a deep and insightful answer but because Phil Esposito is a very intelligent man he answered very simply and said ," because it's allowed".

If there were stiff penalties for fighting in hockey there wouldn't be fighting in hockey.

When it comes to the medical industry, fraud is it acceptable if fighting is in hockey.

Spineblogger has a page rank of 2 which is really good for a blog.

Here is Spine Blogger Alexa rank. http://www.alexa.com/search?q=the+spine+blogger&r=home_home&p=bigtop

Spine Blogger is higher than most other spine sites that are professional sites.

I post links to this site on all the spine forum and health forums in order to raise patient awareness of the scams surgeons and spine companies are perpetrating on the public.

      Delete
    4. Based on the number of comments on spine blogger I would estimate that this site is getting in excess of 10,000 page views per day. Based on my experience, very few people take the time to leave a comment on a blog. Only TSB knows for sure how many pages this blog receives. Spine blogger is all over Google so obviously MSM knows something about search engine optimization.

I will be adding spine blogger to any search engine the currently could not have it. I have referred this site to a lot of other people within and outside of the industry. I would urge everyone to have who cares about right and wrong to make your representatives in Congress aware of the site so that they can get a full appreciation of the criminal and unethical activity that is rampant in the medical device industry.

  37. ISO Certified
Aurora Spine Becomes ISO certified by the British Standards Institute.
Carlsbad CA- December 19th, 2012- This is an exciting time at Aurora Spine as they successfully completed the ISO stage 1 & 2 audits in November, and are now ISO certified by the British Standards Institute (BSI). The ISO 13485 standard “Medical Devices — Quality Management Systems — Requirements for Regulatory Purposes” provides the base model for a medical device company’s quality system; it also complies with the European Union medical device directives for CE marking, Health Canada CMDCAS, and other international requirements. ISO 13485 is based on the ISO 9001 quality system process approach model for customer input, feedback, and communication.
“Compliance represents a commitment on our behalf to take our company far beyond the organizational standards of our competitors and to surpass our partner’s expectations for a quality organization. This certification represents a major achievement and milestone for Aurora Spine. The successful completion assists us in moving forward with regulatory registrations,” said Trent Northcutt, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer.
Gaining an ISO 13485 certification will enable Aurora Spine to conduct business internationally in the highly-regulated sectors of the European Union, Canada, and other countries. “Whether the Company is expanding locally within the United States to accommodate new business ventures or operating internationally, ISO 13485 certification will not only make Aurora Spine stand out in the medical device industry, but will demonstrate to their customers that they are fully committed to quality.” said Mike Thompson, Aurora Spine’s Director of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance.

  53. Here's a thought. Is there any reason for why reps can not work as a manufacturer's rep and represent several different companies?

You create a good line card with various screws and glue and other hardware and equipment. You work strictly on commission. You can have orders for large items drop shipped. You can broker deals for high ticket items like CAT scan machines and C arm imaging and used equipment. Basically, you can become a one-stop shop. Spine is already a whore's market So why not turn into a true whores market?

If all you really have are screws, glue and plates you really don't have much but if you could offer to the surgeon all or most of the tools of the trade he would be more likely to deal with you exclusively.

If you want to corner the screw market have Chinese copies of them made and sell them on your website. That way you are not limited to a territory. Think of it as a Walmart model.

If you're working in a hospital that has control over surgeonsit will be more difficult for them to demand kickbacks if you are the manufacturers rep. If you have products in your line that are clearly superior to the competition in both price and quality the surgeons will be forced to go with what's best and they may be forced to sever their kickback deals. Basically you could extort and it would all be perfectly legal.

By being able to select your product line you will not be forced to sell products that you know are crap. If you're up against a crap product and have proof that it's a crap product you can make the surgeon aware of that. If he still goes with the crap product he's putting his butt on the line when something goes wrong when he knew that there were better and safer alternatives.

If you still feel the need to offer a bribe, there are ways to do it to keep you above the fray.

Some of you guys know how big the pie is and you know with some certainty how big it may grow or shrink in the coming years. You also know how big your slice can be. The truth of the matter is most of you will always be at the mercy of a company that cares about as much about you as they do the patients. You'll never be in a position of power and if the chicken chokers who run your company screw up or sellout you will be screwed. If you work for a screw company and some sort of innovation comes along that makes screws obsolete you will be screwed.

    Diversify!

If you salesman gave a crap about the industry and the patients it is supposed to serve you would drop the politeness of social graces when you're dealing with a dirty Dr. or practice. If you can offer them something that you know is better than to competition and they still blow you off you can call them crook and you can let them know that it is not in their best long-term interest to continue being a crook. If you did this now you'd be fired. Don't be afraid to beat up on these guys little bit.

If you're dealing with an ethical practice they will be happy to deal with someone who is giving them the honest information about the products. Won't it be nice not to have to bullshit clients and actually get paid a decent wage?

    5. Since there's been an increase in the housing market Home Depot and Lowe's are hiring. You are dying industry sells a lot of the same things found in Lowes and Home Depot. . They sell saws and drills and so did you guys. They sell screws and plates and goo and so you guys. The problem may be that the drills, saws, screws, plates and goo may be a lot more sophisticated than what you were used to when you are employed in the spine industry. You probably will have a tough time getting hired but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Most of you are probably too fat and out of shape to work in the lumber or cement department and many of you might be too dimwitted to count change at the checkout counter the McDonald's is always hiring and that people love McDonald's so keep repeating this question, would you like fries with that, would you like fries with that would you like fries with that?

As to self-esteem, self-esteem is a myth because it is dependent upon conditions. When the idiots who run your industry create a better business model they will see that a catalog can sell screws goo better than dimwitted salesman. When you find out that there really is not much else you can do in sales or any other field you are so-called self-esteem will reach an all-time low. Don't go snorting that eightball all at one time because you will be on unemployment. You'd be better off switching to crack because you get a lot more bang for the buck.

Then again Romney could learn something from the spine industry such as hire a web designer and pretend you have products, and fleece investors. To make the company legal buy some screws and say that your products are still under development. Then find some suckers to buy your phony company with the help of Kevin Trudeau.

    4. Bally, let's be honest, it's the big fat shits that are bleeding the healthcare system dry. It is a very rare occasion to see a physically fit person undergoing a fusion procedure. 95% of the people on the table are overweight. If people lived healthier and maintained a lower weight fusions and joint replacements would be cut in half. The responsibility falls to the person allowing themselves to be cut open.

And guess what......the fatter you are the more stress and wear you put on implants. This causes more failures and premature wear issue. If we approved shock absorbing artificial discs in the US we would have fat shits wearing them out twice as fast and suing. The solution is to put less food down your big fat mouth.

The metal on metal implants wear out in everyone.

The industry is responsible for the failures both legally and morally. They are the experts and they have superior knowledge.

If a lawsuit has no merit a lawyer won't take it and the judge with throw it out. When these bastards get sued they and lose none of the criminals responsible lose a penny. The costs get passed on to the consumer/patient. Only a slime would blame the patients for lousy surgeons and crappy hardware.

Again, there are implants more durable than the real thing.

One would think that it device that's intended to be implanted into a human body would be designed and engineered by people much smarter than the average person but in truth many of these devices are actually designed by a committee of chimpanzees.

No other industry makes products with such a high catastrophic failure rate as a medical industry. Any industry that thinks it's okay to put metal on metal joint implants into a human being is beyond stupid and reckless.

We've had the technology and materials to create much better implants for 40 years.

In the 1950s some surgeons were actually implanting Lucite devices between vertebrae with a high rate of success. When I look at some of these devices I cannot believe that in the 21st century we are still implanting these Tinker toys into human beings. It is absolutely barbaric.

This goes to much bigger problem and that is the monetization of human health and the shameful exploitation of disease and human suffering.

Members of this industry come to this blog and whine like little babies to the blog owner and beg for censorship. This goes to the character of the people who dominate this industry. Luckily, the clock is ticking on this industry.
