The product required a minimal amount of hydration and is available in a self-contained delivery system. TSB must ask what makes this product so unique, and is Osteotech limiting the versatility of this biologic by marketing it as a posterior cervical biologic? Osteotech launches MagniFuse PC!
It was reported in Reuters today that Osteotech announced that MagniFuse PC (acronym for Posterior Cervical) was used for the first time in spinal surgery at Virtua-Burlington Medical Center in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Dr. Orin Atlas the attending surgeon commented on the unique biologic perspective (what does that mean?) and ease of use.

The description of what it is has been vague. Rumor has it that it is DBM mixed with allograft chips in a PLGLA bag. If true, none of these elements are new, and all have spotty track records. "Unique biologic perspective", and commented on at the the time of surgery? No clue what that's supposed to mean.

I keep getting confused, and keep wondering how much growth potential there really is in grandpa's old bones. The one thing that is noticeable is the absence of any mention of animal data. Six months ago we were told the animal data showed equivalence, if not superiority, to BMP-2. I think it's time to ask the self appointed guru from the 90s, Dr. B. from A., although he might be a trifle conflicted here.

ReplyDeleteThere are seemingly some rather disgruntled ex-employees that either couldn't "cut it" or made a bad decision in leaving on their own accord. My experience with Bacterin has been nothing short of phenomenal -- just like the product. Please vent your anger in another less blasphemous direction.
